Where do volcanoes form?
When you think of where do volcanoes form you might think Hawaii because it is an island made of volcanoes, but that's not the only place that they form.
These are the three main places where volcanoes originate (form):
1. Hot spots
2. Rifts and mid ocean ridges
3. Convergent plate boundaries
The origin of the hot spots or magma is not well known, but what we do know is that the magma comes form the partial melting with the upper mantle. The actual source of heat that causes the partial melting, the actual hot spot itself, is almost certainly much deeper than that but I do not know exactly how deep the hotspot is.
